Per the publisher Lost Ruins of Arnak combines deck-building and worker placement in a game of exploration, resource management, and discovery. Lost Ruins has a lot of mechanics under the hood for you to play with but they arent all implemented in the most enjoyable way. The other 4 characters are The Baroness who is good at making money and getting item cards straight in to her hand, The Professor is good with artifact cards and has 3 in their suitcase that can be bought more easily, The Explorer is able to move at across the board easily by spending her snacks or The Mystic is good at burning through/collecting fear cards to then 'burn' in order to create resources for himself. Playing as The Captain or The Falconer is a good place to start as both are quite simple to use The Captain has 1 extra meeple to place and the Falconer has a bird that can bring her extra things as she plays. Stonemaier games havent quite landed a perfect hit with the review squad here at. Lost Ruins is a very simple, but still exciting game, which offers a complex magic system and exciting opponents. Lost Ruins is a game that has three endings - the bad ending (The End achievement), the good ending (Reincarnation achievement), and the best ending which requires you to replay the game and get the good ending + complete every side quests on Veteran mode (Arrive Home achievement). Were going on ADVENTURE through ARNAK in the Lost Ruins of Arnak. On the whole they seem to be fairly well balances but, some are much harder to play as than others. The new characters are the main selling point of this expansion and they really add a lot of variation, strategy and fun to the game.
